Gold under pressure thanks to geopolitical risks
(17:24, 14 Aug 2026)
Gold futures fell below $4,400 an ounce in Asian trading as investors took profits and reassessed the Federal Reserve's policy outlook. The decline was cushioned by a softer US dollar, with the Dollar Index nearing 99.5 as unchanged US producer prices and a low CPI reading tempered expectations for a September rate hike. Geopolitical risks lingered due to stalled diplomatic efforts in the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over potential energy-price surges and inflation. On MCX, October gold futures decreased by 0.2% to Rs.1,53,106 per 10 grams as traders remained cautious.
